Madison Panthers Celebrate Reading with “Dolly Day” on 9-25

A group of children dressed in cowboy outfits, posing for a photo. Madison Elementary School celebrated a love of reading with a little country flair during “Dolly Day” on Friday, Sept. 25!

The date, 9-2-5, was the perfect opportunity to celebrate Dolly Parton and her longtime commitment to promoting literacy and putting books into the hands of children.

Madison students and staff were invited to dress up for the occasion and take part in Dolly-inspired activities throughout the school. Students enjoyed banana cream pudding, a nod to one of Dolly’s favorite Southern desserts. Pre-K students painted colorful paper butterflies, while fourth graders created their own “cups of ambition,” inspired by the famous line from Dolly’s song 9 to 5.

The celebration also included a special guest from B100, Brittney Baily, who joined Madison students for some of the fun. She interviewed several fourth grade students about the day’s activities and their Dolly Day creations. Tune in to B100 on Monday, Sept. 28, to hear from our Madison Panthers!

Madison’s Panther Pack also shared more about the school’s current book drive and its efforts to encourage reading throughout the Madison community.

“Dolly Day” gave Madison Panthers a fun and creative way to celebrate books, reading and Dolly Parton’s passion for childhood literacy.
