To be considered a Four Star School, a school’s English/Language Arts and Math ISTEP+, passing percentages must fall into the top 25th percentile when compared to schools statewide. A school must also have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind Act to qualify.
School cancellations and delays
When school must be cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather, announcements will be posted on Penn-Harris-Madison’s main website http://www.phmschools.org/. Announcements are also made on the following television stations: WSBT (Channel 22), WNDU (Channel 16), WSJV (Channel 28), and ABC (Channel 57). Or, you can listen to WSBT radio (960 AM, 101.5 FM), WNDU radio (1490 AM or 92.9 FM), WRBR (103.9 FM), or WYBT-B100 (100.7 FM).
Cold weather has arrived
Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for winter weather. Recess is generally held outdoors when the temperature (with wind chill) is above 0 degrees. Children are on the playground for approximately 20 minutes. Winter coats, hats, boots, and gloves are essential for children to stay warm and comfortable during recess.
